I did this Ancient Greece study with my boys a couple of years ago when they were in 2nd and 4th grade. It is really a myth-focused study rather than history-focused, but I found it to be a great introduction to the stories and literature of ancient r this month I realized that even through we spent an entire school year on ancient Greece, I hadn’t posted our study or much about. There is so much to cover when you teach a unit on Ancient Greece. Students learn about the first great philosophers and how civilization evolved at a tremendously rapid pace. New and exciting ideas burst forth along with the concept of democracy and an appreciation of the arts.

This is an excellent overview of a broad swath of history that's still important to us today. It made me realize that my high school history classes tended to focus on the core parts of Greek history only. I had no real awareness of pre-Greek culture especially, and this book has given me a good grounding in what to research to make up for that.

"The Glory That Was Greece" focuses on classical Greece, particularly ancient Athens and Sparta. Topics include Greek philosophy, drama, art, and architecture, as well as the Persian and Peloponnesian wars.
